national cream cheese brownie day (2)

It’s a yummy day to celebrate, today is NATIONAL CREAM CHEESE BROWNIE DAY. Grab your kids and make some fun treats for your family to share.

Cream Cheese Brownies with Heart Swirls

Just in time with Valentine’s Day these Brownies are sure to show your love.

Brownies are a staple in almost every recipe box and bake sale.  Take them a step further with patterns of heart cream cheese swirls and you’ll surely delight everyone.  I made the brownies two ways: one batch with a cookie texture and shiny, slightly crackled surface, the other with a cake-like texture and matte surface.  Everyone has their own preference, so here are two options to choose from to make this all-time favorite cookie bar. Sugary Winzy

Cream Cheese Brownie Pie

This fudgy top-prize winning dessert needs nothing more than an ice-cold glass of milk to make a perfect ending to any meal. Pillsbury

Loaded Cream Cheese Oreo Brownies

If you’re looking for an over-the-top decadent brownie recipe, look no further. Ultra fudgy, rich brownies are topped with a layer of cream cheese spiked with white chocolate chips, before sprinkling Oreos and semi-sweet chocolate chips on top! Averie Cooks

Cream Cheese Brownies

An elegant dessert that’s a cross between a cheesecake and a brownie. OU Kosher

Cream Cheese Brownies

There are so many types of brownies, but one of my favorites is these Cream Cheese Brownies which combine a dense and fudge-like brownie with a cream cheese filling. Bite into one and you are sure to notice how the tanginess of the cream cheese so nicely tempers the deep richness of the chocolate brownie. What a perfect way to enjoy both a brownie and cheesecake at the same time.   Joy of Baking

National Pizza Day

by celebratethisday

Do you know anyone that doesn’t like pizza? I don’t think I do. No matter how you like your pizza, the traditional tomato sauce and cheese, or a sweet chocolately pizza or maybe a healthy fruit pizza, we have some great recipes for you and your family so you can celebrate NATIONAL PIZZA DAY, today, February 9th.

Chocolate Pizza

We went down the peanut butter route for the topping, but you can top it with whatever you like. Add some sliced strawberries, marshmallows, or just leave it at Nutella! Make our favorite homemade pizza dough or use your favorite store-bought brand for a super-simple dessert!

Rolling the crust out in sugar doesn’t only prevent it from sticking to the surface, but it also creates this caramelized layer on the crust, making your chocolate pizza extra-delish.  Delish

Fudgy Brownie Oreo Pizza

This is a sweet, fudgy brownie pizza and it will change your life, or at least give you some joy while eating it.

Fruit Pizza

Fruit pizza is one of my all-time favorite fruit desserts. The sugar cookie crust topped with the cream cheese frosting and fresh fruit is absolute perfection. It tastes like a mix between a fruit tart and a sugar cookie bar and is so, so delicious! I Heart Naptime

Quick & Easy Mini Garlic Toast Pizzas

This recipe is so simple even the kids can make it! It only requires 3 basic ingredients plus the toppings of your choice. If you like pizza, how can you go wrong with a garlic toast crust? The Lazy Dish

Easy Breakfast Pizza

We love breakfast food and we love pizza! There are all different breakfast pizza recipes out there but this one is our favorite because it is so simple to make and I almost always have all the ingredients on hand. It is also perfect on the go which is great when we are busy in the filed planting, harvesting or trying to get kids off to school. Farm Wife Cooks

How to Make Heart-Shaped Pizzas

When you’re talking pizza, you’re talking my love language. So naturally, around Valentine’s Day, heart-shaped pizzas are in order. Heart-shaped pizzas are totally fun to make with kids, too. Yeah, you might end up with a few kidney-shaped blobs too, but hey. Totally worth it. Kitchen Treaty

National Kite Flying Day

Kite Flying Day

by celebratethisday

Have you ever flown a kite? I remember in school one of our teachers had a kite-flying contest. We had to design and make our own kite. Remember this was before Google, it was a lot harder to find information, you needed to actually GO to the library and do some research on kites, find the best one and then how to make it.

I found out that box kites were great at getting the lift I was wanting and seemed pretty easy to make. A few dowels, tape, trash bag and I was good to go. I put mine together and went to school very excitedly (I didn’t usually care for school). It was finally time to have our contest and I WON!!! I was so excited, there were so many really cool looking kites. But, my little trash bag and dowels box kite won. I can’t really remember what I won, I was just happy that mine won and it was a lot of fun.

How to Build and Fly a Box Kite

Box kites are known for their high lift. In fact, most of the altitude records for kite flying are held by large box kites. You can make this box kite with easy-to-find materials from your hardware or craft store. Lightweight materials will help it soar, even in a mild breeze. Boys Life

Lets Go Fly A S’mores

We thought it would be fun to make a kite out of S’mores. We still have lots of leftover candy around here from Easter and Valentine’s Day so we are always looking for creative ways to get rid of it! These are really easy to make and lots of fun for the kids! Kitchen Fun with My 3 Sons

DIY Newspaper Kite

I love this little activity, because it’s the perfect combo of craft and physical exercise. It’s educational and artsy, but then you get to run and play with it! You can buy kites at the dollar store, so while this is pretty much a free craft, it’s not something you’re doing to save money necessarily: it teaches the kiddos a little bit about physics and lets them make something that’s fun and actually works. Easy Kite Bookmarks

Make some cute little kite bookmarks for those kite flying books you might be reading.

How To.. make a Beautiful Kite!

We didn’t know we could do it, until we did it!  That’s right…this weekend, we designed, constructed and flew our own homemade kites.

Kids most definitely need some help and some patience. But the results are spectacular and give you a perfect reason to go outside and run like the wind. What’s a better reward than this?  This project makes it on my top 3 favorite craft DIY ideas for sure!

By the way, on a difficulty scale from 1-10, it is “officially” a 7.33. (This number is comprised of 3 votes: mine (3 difficulty level) a 7-year-old (9.5 difficulty level) and a 5 1/2-year-old (9.5 difficulty level). Red Ted Art

DIY PAPER KITE MOBILE

If for some reason, you can’t fly your kite outside, you can still have your very own kite celebration at home! And to this end, we have an all-new craft for you – a DIY Kite Mobile! This is a super-easy craft that young kids can do on their own, while preschoolers can do with a little assistance. And don’t worry about visiting a craft store; you need very basic supplies for this craft. Artsy Craftsy Mom

National Hemp Day

by celebratethisday

Today, February 4th, National Hemp Day is a good day to educate yourself and others on what Hemp actually is. There are some many that hear the word “Hemp” and immediately think “marijuana”

Hemp is a phenotype of the Cannabis sativa plant species that is defined by the THC content. Hemp is grown for industrial uses of its derived products, as well as for various phytochemicals other than THC.

It is one of the fastest-growing plants and was one of the first plants to be spun into usable fiber thousands of years ago. It can be refined into a variety of commercial items, including paper, textiles, clothing, biodegradable plastics, paint, insulation, biofuel, food, and animal feed.

Although cannabis as a drug and industrial hemp both derive from the species Cannabis sativa and contain the psychoactive component tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), they are distinct strains with unique phytochemical compositions and uses. Hemp has lower concentrations of THC and higher concentrations of cannabidiol (CBD), which decreases or eliminates its psychoactive effects.  [Wikipedia]

With evidence of its use recorded throughout history, including the discovery of material made from hemp thousands of years ago, many believe that hemp was the first crop ever cultivated by mankind.

With the capabilities to produce crucial resources such as food, rope, clothing, paper, housing material, and more, hemp has been the catalyst for man’s earliest innovations. [CBD Origin]

National 7-Eleven Day

On July 11, the 7-Eleven Convenience store chain celebrates the whole day. And especially celebrated is their signature, Slurpee.

The Slurpee began in 1966. The machines were already being used to make the Icee. But, they modified those machines and changed the name and advertising to, Slurpee. Name for the sound that the sweet cold drink makes when sucking it through a straw.

Along with Slurpee, may come a “brain freeze,” the term in which 7-Eleven took over meaning an extreme headache brought on by drinking a very cold drink too fast.

Here are a few tips to help if you experience a brain freeze.

  • You can try and press your tongue or thumb against the roof of your mouth
  • Sip warm liquid
  • Try stirring the Slurpee a little to warm it up before eating
  • Keep the cold drink off the roof of your mouth
  • When eating your icy dessert, flip the spoon and it the bottom of the spoon toward the roof of your mouth

A Pina Colada is traditionally made with rum, cream from the coconut and pineapple juice. The name “Pina Colada” means “strained pineapple” and refers to the pineapple juice that is added to the drink.

There are several claims on who originally created the drink, the first mention is in 1922, and two different claims the invention of the cocktail in 1952, in San Juan.
